Well here it is. My first ever published blog post. A long time coming, but for sure worth the wait!
What better place to start then letting you (my fabulous readers) have a look into WHY I chose Real Estate.
I have always felt incredibly blessed with a loving family, friends & handsome boyfriend who have showered me with love & support. Except I never felt completely fulfilled, something was missing. (Cliché I know, but hear me out!). This was me. Two months ago. Seems like forever ago now that I start to write about it, but such a short amount of time to make such a big change!
I can usually make the most out of anything, but there is something incredibly important to be said about loving what you do. Do you feel passionate about the type of work you’re doing? Are you challenged and pushed to be your absolute best? Do you wake up every morning (after a strong cup of coffee) and look forward to what victories or obstacles you may encounter today? I wish I could tell you I was saying yes to all of those questions, but I wasn’t.
I soon began to run scenario after scenario through my head, making pro's and con's of what my next move should be. Most importantly would this move allow me to be in control of my own success? The idea of real estate had always been attractive, but I didn't know enough about it to feel comfortable putting all of my eggs in that basket. That was my first mistake. Instead of seeing real estate as an opportunity to learn & expand my skills and knowledge, the idea scared me.
So I sent out feelers to different companies, took the interviews, went through the motions, but the passion was not there. Fast forward a week, I'm sitting in traffic on my way home from an interview and I say out loud, "What am I doing? Why am I allowing other people to be in control of my success?" I call my mom, (because who else do you call when you all of a sudden have this epiphany?), and I told her, "Mom, I'm starting my own real estate business, I'm going to school & I'm going to be in control of my own success".
I have always wanted to own my own business, however I was clueless about what that business should be. I also knew I wanted to help people, and at first the only way I thought I could help was through philanthropic contributions. I will always have a heart for non-for-profit, and giving back to those who need it the most, but then I found another positive way I could give back.
Real Estate can be defined numerous ways, all dependent on how the real estate agent you are working with, defines it. A job, an investment, a paycheck, etc. For me, real estate is a relationship, an opportunity to educate and advocate for you, whether it’s your first home or your tenth home.A home, one of the biggest investments you will ever make in your life. This decision shouldn’t be made on a whim (unless you want it to be) and it shouldn’t be made alone!
I’ve said it a million times, and sometimes I wonder if I should tattoo it across my forehead; “Be in control of your own success”, it may sound easy, and you may think that you are, but this saying is one of my top three reasons I chose to put my heart and soul into real estate.
Don't be fooled, I still hadn't convinced myself this was all going to work out. Although, I had convinced myself that I felt strongly about taking control of where my future was going, and real estate was going to allow me to do that. If I fail, I failed on my own merit, not someone else’s. If I succeed, I succeeded on my own will, hard work and dedication. When I give a buyer or seller 200% of my hard work, time and dedication, I want them to come out at the end with the upmost success, not just finding the home they want, but wanting the home they got.
That is being in control of your own success, and I couldn't be more excited!
