Life. It’s absolutely crazy, busy, exciting & everything in between! If you’re anything like me, I struggle to get into a routine of self-care because I simply can’t find the time! I wanted to share a few quick healthy habits I have started implementing into my week! I obviously don’t do them everyday, or all on the same day, but I try to outline when I will have the time throughout the week! A lot of these habits answer questions I’ve been getting about teeth whitening, skin complexion, etc!
Friends & family are notorious for calling me a “teeth freak”, probably because I brush them entirely too often, but who doesn’t love shiny clean teeth? This girl does! I get a lot of questions about whether or not I whiten my teeth, how I do it, how often, etc! Besides staying away from colored drinks (wine, soda, coffee), now I love all three of those and try to drink out of a straw if at all possible! I use “Crest White Strips” about once a month! (my teeth are already extremely sensitive & these make them a little tender! However I learned to do them right before bed, so they are sensitive as I sleep, instead of during my day!
My ultimate favorite teeth whitening trick is actually Hydrogen Peroxide & a q-tip! Yes! 99 cent hydrogen peroxide from a local drug store will do the trick! Did ya’ll know the main ingredient in toothpaste is hydrogen peroxide!? After brushing each morning, I dip my q-tip in the hydrogen peroxide, apply it to all my teeth & let it sit for 1-2 minutes (usually as I’m blow drying my hair or applying lotion). Try this for a few weeks, you will be AMAZED!!!
Especially going into winter, my hands & cuticles are so dry! Excess dry skin can cause your polish, gel or dip to come off easier so it’s super important you keep your cuticles moisturized! I have started using Miami Lavender Cuticle Oil, 2-3 times a week! I do this right out of the shower, (it applies just like nail polish!) and let it sit for 5-10 minutes then wash it off! I have seen a dramatic change in my cuticle strength & my hands and nails stay hydrated!!
Hair Cleansing Cream
Shampoo, conditioner, heat protectant, volumizing mousse, oil, hairspray, (omg I never realized how much STUFF I put in my hair on a daily basis!) Now don’t get me wrong I love all of my hair products I use, they work wonders (future blog post to come) but have you ever stopped and thought how much stuff sits in your hair throughout the day? Just like anything else, it’s always good to strip your hair of all of the toxins, oils & product you put into it! I use Redken Hair Cleansing Cream every Sunday (why Sunday? Not really sure, its normally when I have enough time & remember to use it, ha!) I recommend only using it once a week! It is super strong & gives great results! This will keep your roots & ends healthy, toxin free & allow you to have a clean palette of hair to start the week! This also reduces the oil in your hair, giving you a fresh set of roots!
Collagen Eye Pads
As hard as I try to get 8 or more hours of sleep a night, sometimes it’s physically impossible. I often wake up with dark circles under my eyes, (anyone else?) and no matter how much concealer I apply, by noon they’re back! I started looking for a dark circle alternative (not wanting to spend $200+ on eye cream) and I found Collagen Eye Zone Pads! These pads are amazing! Filled with Collagen, Vitamin E & Green tea extract, they have helped reduce morning puffiness, everyday dark circles & my skin feels so rejuvenated! They are so simple to put on, (I put mine in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes before to increase the results!) and wear them for 15-20 minutes after I get out of the shower! I recommend using them on a fresh face before applying makeup! I went without concealer after I used them & I would have never dreamed of doing that before! Use them 1-2 times a week, about 3 days apart!
Take time out of your week for self-care, it’s so incredibly important & so is your health & well being!
